Catching up with My Boat Life on the Bob's No Wake Zone Radio Show
About 10 years ago I wrote a children's book called The Amazing Adventures of Boat Girl. It got a lot of attention because the book was focused on kid's boat safety, but also with an emphasis on making it fun for kids to take safety seriously on their boating adventures.
That's how I first met Captain Bob May of the radio show Bob's No Wake Zone. Based in the Great Lakes region, Bob is a 50 Ton licensed boat captain and a big advocate for boat safety initiatives. He quickly became one of my biggest fans for my children's boat safety book.
I was excited to be a guest on Bob's radio show back in 2014 and tell the full story behind my book (you can watch a video/audio recap on YouTube). And then in 2020, I was once again invited back on the show to talk about different things I had going on with my career in boating.
Fast forward to November 2023 and Bob is still my book's biggest fan! I joined his show for a third guest spot to chat once again about The Amazing Adventures of Boat Girl which included some fun updates on my daughter (who inspired the book) and my nephew (who did all the illustrations). I also shared some of the different marine marketing roles I had over the past few years, as well as my current focus on my boating lifestyle sites My Boat Life and Boater Kids. Both sites offer a lot of resources for everyday boaters, including gear & gift guides, how-to articles & YouTube videos and more.
